The go-to smoothie
Smoothies truly are the best of both worlds. They're practically synonymous with healthy eating and weight loss yet loved like a guilty dessert without the guilt.
Smoothies are great as a meal replacement for breakfast or post-workout fuel. And to make things interesting, there are literally endless recipes for this liquid treat- many of which I will be sharing!
But lets be honest, sometimes you just don't have 3 macadamia nuts, fresh ginger root and kiwi laying around the kitchen.
When I'm running low on the fancy stuff, I can always rely on some old browning bananas, a few grapes and a lingering apple to get me through my smoothie fix. Most fruit lovers already have these in their kitchen and it takes literally less than 5 minutes to make.
The even better part is that this random concoction actually has huge health benefits:
Bananas- loaded with fiber and antioxidants, bananas can improve digestive health. And its potassium source can do wonders for heart health - lower blood pressure and risk of heart disease. And it's a GOOD carb! (Yes, carbs can be good and you should not totally eliminate them from your diet... we'll get back to that).
Anywho,
Apples- Also rich in antioxidants, it's true what your kindergarten teacher told you- an apple a day keeps the doctor way. The benefits of apples goes on and on and on... reduces cholesterol, helps prevent cancer, detoxifies liver, etc.
Grapes- Yea... the stuff wine is made of, is (you guessed it) amazing in preserving heart health. Grapes are full of antioxidants and actually help with bone health (it's not just milk).
Bottom line, as basic as this smoothie is, it's full of elements that can glorify your insides like sunshine on a Sunday morning.
